Health Superheroes At Your Service

Welcome to our blog, it is a pleasure to hear your comments & discuss with you. Please note that although we are all health experts - that's right you are actually speaking to a real doctor , you got it, a real MD, an actual chiropractic doctor, an exercise physiologist & a full fledged dietitian/nutritionist- our views are entirely personal & yes you got it non-conventional.

We will be discussing many issues just to mention a few: food, nutrition, medicine, drugs, medical treatments, pertinence of alternative medicine, daily green practices, etc from all these different perspectives to how these will impact our health & environment . In this day & age, the following saying "act locally & think globally" is not just a Coca Cola slogan it is imperative that we live by it... Time has come to act, this why we call ourselves humbly, superheroes of health. It is up to all of us to make a difference....Our children are counting on us.

Ask us any question relative to our fields of expertise & we will do our best to come to your rescue...

hello all,

I received the e-mail and I jumped at the chance to ask a question that's been killing me for weeks....so here's my question, and I hope it's pertinant in your field of expertise...

Although I haven't significantly reduced the amount or variety of food im eating I have been losing alot of weight..I was wondering at what point should i start worrying that im under a healthy weight?

Hi Shant, is there a particular reason why you are losing weight that fast ? Are you on meds, training harder ? More sleep deprived than usual ?
A good indicator of unhealthy weigth loss is rate of loss: so if you are losing more than1-2 pounds/ week ...watch out something is not quite Kosher especially since you are losing it without effort.
Also a Body Mass Index (BMI) of less than 20 is an open door for lowered immununity etc so hello more colds, flus & anything viral or bacterial that you can catch. A BMI is calculated as your weight divided by your height squared. IN fact it calculates for your height the amount of weight/ or fat that is acceptable for your body. Word of caution for muscular/athletic types of people & children: the BMI is not as good an indicator. Refer to the following BMI calculator for more info
